About Me — Baby Potty Training Mommy
Hi, I'm so glad you found your way here.
If you're reading this, chances are you're in the thick of one of the most memorable — and sometimes maddening — milestones of parenthood: potty training. I've been there. More than once. And I created this blog because when I was searching for honest, practical answers, I found a lot of generic advice that didn't quite match my real-life experience as a mom.
So I decided to write it myself.
My Potty Training Story
I started Baby Potty Training Mommy back in 2010, when my child was approaching the age where diapers needed to become a thing of the past. Like most first-time parents, I was equal parts excited and completely overwhelmed. Which potty seat do you choose? When is the right age to start? What do you do when they flat-out refuse? What about night training? Regressions? Travel?
I tested products, tried different methods, celebrated small victories, cleaned up more accidents than I care to count, and slowly figured out what actually works — and what doesn't.
Over fifteen years of writing this blog, I've shared everything I've learned, from in-depth reviews of potty chairs like the BabyBjörn Smart Potty and Summer Infant My Size Potty, to practical guides on training boys versus girls, handling regression, and navigating night-time dryness.
Along the way, I also discovered that potty training isn't just a baby thing — many of us have curious pets at home too. So you'll also find guides on house training dogs, cats, and a few unexpected animals on this blog. Because parenting — in all its forms — keeps us on our toes.
What You'll Find Here
This blog is a resource built from real experience, not textbooks. Here's what I cover:
- Baby & Toddler Potty Training — age-by-age guidance, readiness signs, and step-by-step methods that work in real life
- Training Boys vs Girls — because yes, there are differences, and I cover both
- Night-Time Training — one of the trickiest stages, and one I have plenty of personal thoughts on
- Potty Training Methods — from the 3-day method to child-led approaches, I break down the options so you can choose what fits your child's personality
- Product Reviews — honest assessments of the potty chairs, training pants, step stools, and accessories worth buying (and the ones that aren't)
- Pet Training Guides — house training Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Maltipoos, and more for pet-owning families
- Handling Setbacks — regression, fear of the toilet, stubborn toddlers — I cover the hard stuff too
My Approach
I believe that every child is different. There is no single "right" method, no perfect age to start, and no reason to feel like a failure when things don't go to plan. Accidents happen. Regression is normal. And the child who seems impossible to train today will almost certainly be using the toilet independently sooner than you think.
My goal with every post I write is simple: give you the honest, practical, experience-backed information I wish someone had given me — without the judgment, without the overwhelm, and with a healthy dose of reassurance that you're doing just fine.
